The day after my colonoscopy I did end up in ER with an appendicitis! The surgeon said there was no way colonoscopy could cause appendicitis, just a fluke! Lucky me! I'm on the mend, but its been quite a week to say the least"

"I traveled from out of state. Where I live there is a shortage of GI doctors. I needed my three year follow up colonoscopy, which was due in March. I had a a large precancerous polyp removed the last time. I'm also experiencing new onset bowel changes. I received an appointment within a week. My colonoscopy is scheduled for July 16th. I couldn't be more pleased. The staff is professional. Dr. Jacob's was professional ,non intimidating, and a good listener. 👍"
"I had persistent diarrhea following gall bladder surgery in 2018. My former internist treated the symptoms but never looked for the reason. In 2023, I relocated to Franklin and was referred to Dr. Thayer Nasereddin. Lucky me! Dr. Nasereddin actually listened to me, ordered a sigmoidoscope and I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis. My life no longer requires planning trips based on the location of the nearest bathroom."

"Dr. Drake always takes the time to explain things to me and answer questions. He takes the time to help you find the least expensive pharmacy for your medication. He is also straight forward and honest while being very kind. Parking is an issue, I drove around for 10 minutes and saw a couple near accidents because people were frustrated. My particular appointment could have been virtual which would have freed up parking and given Dr. Drake more time for other patients."

"I was not at all pleased with my recovery care. The lady was not pleasant, she made me feel like I was taking up her precious time and needing to be pushed out. I asked for a blanket and she told me I was leaving I didn't need one. I asked again for a bkanket when I was in the wheel chair, watching my room be cleaned (proof I'm being rushed- to then hear that room was done for the day) while I waited for someone to take me out, she ignored me, so I went to get my own, I would have fell over due to loss of balance (I felt ok, obviously I wasn't) and the cleaning lady caught me and gave me my blanket and also took my out for my ride. My ride went to the wrong pickup area, and without hesitation, she took me over there. She was fantastic. The 2 nurses, Madonna & Bridget were very kind when I got there to prep for surgery. The surgery room experience a bit scary, I've had a few surgeries, and I've never been coherent for that long of a time before a procedure (this was my 4th colonoscopy) I was quite emotional with anxiety, though this is an everyday event fir them, I feel like they need to remember that it isn't for us. Possibly for those that are extremely anxious, help us out with a little medication after we're prepped. That would help sooo much. Thank you for allowing me to express my thoughts."

"Everyone from reception desk to nursing care preparing me for procedures were very considerate and caring individuals. Seemed to be happy in their jobs! Went through the steps of preparing and want to mention Kay the nurse who did my IV who is exceptional. I explained why my hand was not acceptable location for the IV and she positioned it on the arm. She was gentle and put the needle in without pain and discomfort. Excellent job of finding vein too. Dr Crane is an exceptional caring doctor and takes time to explain things and answer questions. In the exam room they took care of my special needs without question and very helpful to make me comfortable. Afterwards the individuals who prepared me for discharge were also very caring and helpful. I highly recommend Dr crane and the staff for the special care given to me for this procedure. "Sara Reischman was very informative with my health issue and look forward to future appointments. The one problem we have when we come to St Francis is which exterior door to enter. When appts are made for different Doctors it would be extremely helpful if the scheduler could tell us which door to enter. Most employees do not know what to tell you. Consequently I had to enter the hospital through three different doors before finding the right one. My wife’s appointments have experienced the SAME problem. It should be an easy fix. Especially for those of us who don’t walk well due to age. Thank you."

"Dr. James Jacob and his healthcare team are super professional and very helpful. I went here for a scheduled upper endoscopy procedure. Everyone including the scheduling lady, the person who asked me to sign waivers, and nurses were super polite and kind. The nurses who were accompanying me to operation room were so calm and also helped me calm down. Last time I was put in full anesthesia was when I was 7, so naturally I was quite nervous but the team was very helpful in calming me down. I didn’t even realize when they use the anesthesia but they told me it gets into effect in 20 seconds. I don’t remember any part of the procedure. They were so nice to call my boyfriend so he picks me up and also called him again to guide him which door to pick me up from my wheelchair. After the procedure, another very nice nurse helped me with checkout procedure and gave me apple juice. The unit uses Klara chat systems and I got timely responses regarding my questions before the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. James Jacob if you want to check any stomach related issues or want an expert opinion. Thanks a lot for your service."

"Dr. Jacob has been my gastroenterologist since 2005. My life changed dramatically in 2011 after a surgical catastrophe caused me to lose almost all of my small intestines. "The staff was friendly and got me in quickly. Dr Haynes listened to the symptoms I was having and ordered labs accordingly. I was told at the end of my appointment that blood work needed done and I needed to call to schedule an ultrasound. I went and got the blood work only to be told by the lab that my insurance needed a prior authorization. I called the insurance who confirmed that they did need one and that Dr Haynes office needed to call them. So I called Dr Haynes office and was informed that under no circumstance would they send a prior authorization but that I needed to call the insurance back so that they could tell me somewhere I could go to get the test done that would be not as expensive. Essentially, both insurance and Dr Haynes office told me I was out of luck, they couldn’t help, and that I needed to do the test and pay for it. The day after my original appointment, I was scheduled for the liver ultrasound. When I got there, they informed me that Dr Haynes office had not sent the order yet. When I called, Dr Haynes office said they needed to pre-certify the ultrasound before sending it. I have no idea what that means and I had been on the phone with them and my insurance several times the previous day. At that point, I was standing in the hospital bawling my eyes out because I work three jobs, I’m an only parent, im in college full time, and I was being told I had to pay for this lab work to be done somewhere and I had to find that somewhere and that I had to find another day in my already-tight schedule to do the ultrasound. The person working at the radiology portion of the hospital must have overheard me trying to get myself together because she ended up calling my family doctor who immediately sent over the order for the ultrasound and they did it. I don’t want to be dramatic but having any kind of health scare when you are the sole provider for your child, especially one that can be genetic, puts an immense amount of stress on a person. Like I previously mentioned, the staff was very nice, there was just additional stress after the appointment due to confusion/communication."

"Update 2023: finally getting answers! Started off rocky but learned you want to get the portal to communicate with Staff and doctors. Best and quickest way instead of calling in. Update 2022: I gave this place a 5 star in the beginning but it's going down to a 3 star now. Doctor sent in a prescription for a new medication, it was a week that had sent over to the pharmacy. I went in and talked to meijer staff about this particular prescription. The nice man stated we sent it back to the office for a pre authorization 3 days ago!!! Haven't heard back from them. I called the doctors office and asked what was going on. The staff said we are working on it. This is probably the second time I had have this issue with my medications that need pre authorization with this office. Luckily the doctor gave me an alternative to try, thank goodness for that and the doctor herself. Honest review- 2nd opinion what I went for. I started out at IU Health Gastroenterology Avon location I started having issues in late October 2021. I received the worst care. No return phone calls no return emails and if I did get emails they were extremely late and rude. The doctor was so rude and staff was unbelievable. I was on so many antibiotics that have not worked. I went to Indiana Gastroenterology due to have SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth). I was diagnosed with it in March 2022. I am currently now getting the help and treatment for it. I was treated with professional respect and understanding that this is an serious infection that shouldn't be just put to the side like IU Health did. I currently see Dr. Drake. I like him alot. He took his time and I didn't feel rushed at all. He immediately noticed my issue with my stomach, looking 3 months pregnant all the time. (Which I am not part of the infection always bloated and hard stomach.) I believe what helped me during the appointment was having all my paperwork from another doctor and documenting what issues I had to help decide what needs to be done."
