Colorado native Dr. Robert K. Vincent joined Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology (IGH) in the fall of 2017 after completing his fellowship in transplant hepatology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center. Dr. Vincent sees patients in Indianapolis and Greensburg.
Dr. Vincent’s training career began with his undergraduate studies at Drake University. There, he became a project leader investigating the damage to the GI tract during hemorrhage and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 2001.
Dr. Vincent was selected for the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He combined medical school and a graduate education program to study medicine while earning his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology. His research and doctorate work focused on pancreas tissue development for diabetes treatments.
Dr. Vincent continued his medical education at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), completing his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship as part of a Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP). This program combined internal medicine residency with subspecialty training and a three-year research fellowship. While completing his studies at VCU, his research focused on extensive population tissue studies of patients developing Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) under the mentorship of Dr. Arun Sanyal. Dr. Vincent completed his VCU training with a one-year transplant hepatology fellowship. He is a published author of multiple research articles from his undergraduate work, graduate work, and research fellowship.
Dr. Vincent is a member of The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). An animal lover with four pets, Dr. Vincent’s other interests include travel, soccer, following his favorite NFL teams, the Broncos and Colts, and spending time with his wife.

Great experience and insight! Just felt it was hard to get in. Took 3 months to get in for a follow up to a procedure which wasn’t the greatest thing! But I highly recommend Dr Vincent and he has a great demeanor and talks through the problem!

Nurses were awesome and all the staff was very friendly. Doc did a great job as well.
I was not at all pleased with my recovery care. The lady was not pleasant, she made me feel like I was taking up her precious time and needing to be pushed out. I asked for a blanket and she told me I was leaving I didn't need one. I asked again for a bkanket when I was in the wheel chair, watching my room be cleaned (proof I'm being rushed- to then hear that room was done for the day) while I waited for someone to take me out, she ignored me, so I went to get my own, I would have fell over due to loss of balance (I felt ok, obviously I wasn't) and the cleaning lady caught me and gave me my blanket and also took my out for my ride. My ride went to the wrong pickup area, and without hesitation, she took me over there. She was fantastic.

The surgery room experience a bit scary, I've had a few surgeries, and I've never been coherent for that long of a time before a procedure (this was my 4th colonoscopy) I was quite emotional with anxiety, though this is an everyday event fir them, I feel like they need to remember that it isn't for us. Possibly for those that are extremely anxious, help us out with a little medication after we're prepped. That would help sooo much.
